I'm purchasing flowers for my wedding the day before. How can I keep them from wilting overnight?

If you are buying all your flowers and creating your own stuff:

Cut off 1%26quot; from the stems and put in water w/ the plant food they usually give you when you buy flowers. I have heard that refrigerating them is a good idea as well, but if you can%26#039;t do that, you can%26#039;t.

If you are buying them from a florist, already arranged, they should have a tiny green sponge holding them in place, that has water in it. They should stay good for at least a day or two like that, be careful not to bump them up against anything, they%26#039;ll bruise that way, and you might try again, refrigerating them BEING VERY CAREFUL TO MAKE SURE THE FRIDGE ISN%26#039;T SET ON TOO COLD a temperature, as they will freeze and it will ruin them.

I would call the place where you intend to purchase your flowers and let them know your plans. What if you show up and they don%26#039;t have the flowers you had in mind? If you are buying them from a retail store, talk to the manager or person in charge of the floral department and see if they will help you by keeping some nice fresh flowers set back for you.
Reply:If you order them online, they%26#039;ll come needing to be bloomed. You%26#039;ll need a couple days to do this. Either way, keep them in the coolest area you can (not fridge-too cold) basement or crank up the A/C and close off the vents except for the room where the flowers are kept. Keep the well hydrated with spring water.
Reply:My bride and I ordered flowers, she had a great idea to fill the tub with about 1 foot full of water and leave the flowers there. If you need the tub, I would recommend buying some cheap buckets and putting them in there with plenty of water and sunlight. You could also call a florist and ask for their opinion.
Reply:i heard putting them in a refrigerator a good idea. not the freezer.

I%26#039;m also buying my flowers the day before the wedding because i%26#039;m doing the bridal and my bouquet myself and that%26#039;s what i%26#039;m planning to do.
Reply:Give them a fresh cutting of about 1/4 inch while under water. Make sure you use either pruners or a very sharp knife. Then store them in water in a cool room. Do not put them near a vent or fan.
Reply:trim the bottoms a little bit
